A fan comic of a comic! Murasaki99 provided the script for this little side-story to "Sunset and the Pistol Wraith," and I'm using it as a real learning experience as far as my limits and those of Photoshop. Page 1 of 3.

Boo-YAH!! *Sproing-sproing* This is so good!! Love Sunset's blue eyes and how Caz and Sunset's expressions shift from panel to panel. The last panel... hee-hee! *snicker*

You're doing great! *sproings more* :D

Oh yah, expect more facial gymnastics next page...

I had such fun scanning this. Turns out the comic paper is a bit too big, so I fired up the ancient PowerMac in the back to do the scan, transferred that on Zip disk to my G3, and then transferred it to my new Mac via flash drive.

*SQUEEEE!*

Oh WOW!

Nice! Hope your having fun while your learning. :)

Hope Sunset's iron monger-y didn't frazzle you too much.

Heh, *snikers* along with Murasaki99.

At least, I think I am. I only saw the roughs. So I'm double excited.

Wonderful stuff as always.

Good heavens, that's an awful lot of work to do a set of scans! Is the comic paper a little bit bigger than your standard 8.5 x 11? The manga paper I am using is actually the size of standard printer paper, 8.5 x 11, and so it fits in my small Canoscan scanner just fine.

Scanning large hardcover books is what gives me fits given the way everything for my computer is crammed onto a rather small table in my kitchen.

I used to work on full-size comic book Bristol board, but I actually found it more difficult than working on the smaller size. Plus, the way I lay things out, I tend to do sketches on smaller pieces of paper, and then compose the larger piece in Paint Shop Pro.I think I've developed a rather odd technique, but it more or less works for me.

It's kind of like that old saying "people who love the law and sausages should not watch it being made". :XD:

Hooray for facial gymnastics! I'm still reading my way through Tezuka Sensei's Phoenix and he is just the master of all sorts of "takes" and body distortions. Every time I look at a page of his artwork I learn something new.

Excellently done! A fan comic based on a fan comic. Wonderful!

The comic paper is a lot bigger than standard Letter size (and bigger than my manga paper--my memory failed me there). My antique scanner has a larger surface and a removable cover so I can get better scans... but the software is on its last dying gasp.

Currently wrestling with the expositionary layout for Page 2.

I'm going to have to start reading the manga classics. I wonder if the local library might have a couple of these on loan?
:icondiinzumo:
By "roughs," do you mean the rough layouts for the rest of the pages? I'm in the process of transferring them to the comic boards now. Up to my elbows in eraser shavings. :)

Iron-mongery? You lost me...

Glad you like it. M99 made mention of a collaboration, and I jumped on it. :)
